Mr. Madiba is still in a critical but stable condition, however according to doctors his chances of survival are slim and how long he still lives is a decision resting in his family's hands. According to doctors it is almost impossible to wean an elderly person of a ventilator machine. Denis Goldberg, one of the men who was convicted with Mandela, told AFP after visiting him on Monday: "He is clearly a very ill man, but he was conscious and he tried to move his mouth and eyes when I talked to him." He has basically confirmed that former president Nelson Mandela is not in a vegetative state, as claimed in recent court papers. So who is thumb sucking and who is lying to the whole world? Nelson Mandela's daughter Makaziwe Mandela was also seen at the hospital today visiting with her father. Granddaughters Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway and Swati Dlamini also arrived to visit. 15 years ago Mr. Madiba visited a young boy in hospital also called Nelson. He was dying of brain cancer. Mr. Madiba said to the boy: "If your spirit is not optimistic, your morale is not high, medicine is not very effective,". The boy unfortunately died within three months from the visit. Mr. Madiba being sick in hospital has still united people from all over the world. It really is sad and it gets sadder as each passing day goes by due to the fact that his chances of survival are slimming more and more and more.
